Last season in this same venue, Hugo Ticciati brought audiences under his spell before a note was even played by performing a pre concert meditation and then manipulating the space of this most enchanting venue by having the orchestra play out of sight, in front of the audience and even behind them at one point. The nearest station to Manchester Cathedral is Manchester Victoria, only a 4-minute walk away. If arriving at Piccadilly station, it is a 20-minute walk or you can get a tram to Manchester Victoria, the nearest Metrolink stations are Manchester Victoria and Exchange Square.
From Manchester Coach Station you can get a bus to the university from Portland Street, bus numbers in the 40s will go towards the university, alternatively Academy 2 is a 25-minute walk (1.2 miles).

Bar and restaurant Big Hands is situated next to the academy with tasty items on the menu such as pizza and nachos with a large selection of alcoholic and soft beverages. The menu is also well suited for vegetarians.
