The Old Courts, Wigan

In the wake of the recent devastating arson attack at The John Bull Chophouse pub in Wigan town centre, join us in The Victorian Courtroom for a truly unique performance and celebrate the importance of a historic pub at the centre of Wigan’s culture, recognise the impact of the fire and recognise the town-wide efforts to save and restore the iconic institution.

What Happened?
On 5th August this year, there was an arson attack at The John Bull Chophouse Pub in Wigan town centre. Not only is this a building of historical significance in the town, it’s probably THE place most synonymous with the music scene and alternative culture over the last 40 years which happens to have the greatest jukebox in England (this was smashed to pieces and is now in Leeds being lovingly restored). There has been an outpouring of anger, sadness at what happened but then a huge effort to fundraise and support the saving and restoration of the place spearheaded by Wigan artist Joe Astley who has organised various events.

Join us for this unique celebrtaion of one of the Northwests most important cultural landmarks.
