Classic FM, the UK’s most popular classical music station, announces today (Thursday 17th October) that we have become its newest official partner, and its first ever partner orchestra in the Greater Manchester area.
The partnership will see Classic FM support our vision to amplify the transformative power of music through our concerts and extensive community-based programme.
As part of the partnership, Classic FM will promote our award-winning Music in Mind work, helping countless people living with dementia and their carers to use the power of music within their care plans – All part of our expansion due to hosting the National Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia. Classic FM also becomes our principal media partner for our Music Champions recruitment campaign, in which we engage and train members of the public and care professionals in our Music in Mind music-therapy-based techniques.
Furthermore, Classic FM will be promoting our Monastery series of concerts at our Home in Gorton already consisting of Handel’s Messiah; Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with violinist Daniel Pioro , and Space: The Sounds of the Stars with vocal ensemble Kantos and featuring breath-taking projections. We will also be announcing a series of lunchtime concerts at The Monastery in partnership with Classic FM in the near future.
This week, Classic FM listeners are hearing our new recording of early Mozart piano concertos – the tenth volume of our acclaimed Mozart Made in Manchester series – because it’s Classic FM’s Album of the Week; Alexander Armstrong is championing it on-air daily around 11.15am.
Philip Noyce, Classic FM’s Managing Editor of Classic FM, said: “The team at Manchester Camerata echo our vision and enthusiasm to make classical music accessible and relevant to everyone, regardless of age or background, so this is a very exciting new partnership. From their captivating live concerts to their impactful community-based work, Manchester Camerata is blazing a trail in classical music and we are thrilled to welcome them as one of Classic FM’s official partners.”
Bob Riley, our CEO had this to say about the partnership: “Classic FM has been synonymous with the UK orchestral landscape for over 30 years. We are constantly striving to create positive change within the industry and push beyond the traditional expectations of an orchestra – so to have Classic FM’s support with us on this journey is just magic.”
Huge thanks to the whole team at Classic FM; we can’t wait to work together!
