Over the past year we’ve worked in partnership with the ForViva Housing Group in a series of Music in Mind projects. Working first with Astley Court in Irlam and Amblecote Gardens in Little Hulton, a music therapist and musician from the orchestra delivered weekly music making sessions for residents in each care setting. They also worked with care staff in Music in Mind training sessions, offering them advice and techniques to deliver their own music making activities after the project had ended. We’ve been back to visit our friends in both of these homes and it’s great to see the music making is still going strong!
We’re now approaching the end of the second part of this project, where we’ve been working with groups from Carter House in St Helen’s and Bourke Gardens in Walkden in regular Music in Mind sessions.
What an exciting project to be able to work with so many new people and connect through music! Thanks to our friends at ForViva for their continued support.
