Manchester Camerata have recorded Antonio Vivaldi’s baroque masterpiece ‘The Four Seasons’ with their artistic partner, Daniel Pioro

Platoon have released this new recording of Antonio Vivaldi’s baroque masterpiece The Four Seasons, performed by virtuoso violinist Daniel Pioro and our musicians, with accompanying poetry by Sir Michael Morpurgo.

Recorded in Manchester and using Vivaldi’s Manchester manuscript as its starting point, Daniel Pioro translated Vivaldi’s original sonnets that accompany the work and then entrusted them to Sir Michael Morpurgo, one of Britain’s best-loved children’s authors, to write new poetry that would invite generations of children into the world of classical music.

“I do not believe we as performers are yet to fully acknowledge the danger that is implicit in this work and the incredible potential for experiments that lie within it as a result. Nature has the power to create, yes, but equally to destroy. Beauty is important to me in music– and I hope the listener hears the beauty within this recording – but most importantly, I wanted this recording to be a sonic devotion to the ecosystem around us and an ode to the imagination of Antonio Vivaldi… not just the notes he left us with.” – Daniel Pioro.
