Elise Scheurer
Elise Scheurer was born in Fribourg, Switzerland, to English-Swiss parents. She began learning the violin at a very young age and was quickly accepted to the Talent Development Programme at the Konservatorium für Musik Bern. After graduating from Hochschule Luzern with distinction, Elise went to London to study with Professor David Takeno. She graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama with distinction, and was additionaly awarded the Concert Recital Diploma for high distinction in her final recital.
Over the years Elise has performed with many different ensembles, orchestras and chamber music groups, allowing her not only to travel the world and connect with people from all walks of life, but also to play in some of the world’s most famous concert halls such as KKL Luzern, Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, Kuopio Music Centre and Shanghai Symphony Hall. She has also had the opportunity to appear at various Festivals such as Avigdor Classics, Lucerne Festival, KaposFest and Highgate Festival.
She is a guest player of London Mozart Players and a member of Camerata Pelsonore (Hungary).
Apart from chamber music, Elise is also very keen on historical performance practice.
As well as receiving coaching from Pavlo Beznosiuk, she has had the opportunity to perform with Kammerorchester Basel and Academy of Ancient Music; experiences which have only served to strengthen her curiosity and interest in this field.
Another, more recent passion Elise has developed is teaching. She finds it very fulfilling to be able to pass on her love for music through helping others to learn and progress on the violin.
Since graduating, Elise enjoys a varied freelancing career and divides her time between Hexham, Manchester, London and Switzerland. When she is not busy studying scores, teaching and experimenting on her violin, she can be found out in nature, hiking or working with her neighbour’s horses back in Switzerland.
