Requiem by Giuseppi Verdi

Sat 27 April 2024, 7:30pm,
Liverpool Anglican Cathedral

The soaring heights of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral will be filled with the fantastic sound of around 250 voices as four choirs from different parts of the country come together to perform the magnificent Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi written in memory of his friend and novelist Manzoni.  Like Brahms’ Requiem, it was a personal statement of grief designed for the concert hall rather than church, and is one of Verdi’s most operatic and passionate pieces.

150 years after its first performance in Milan in May 1874, Liverpool Welsh Choral is joined by Vivace Chorus (Guildford); Cantorion Menai (Bangor) and The University of Liverpool Chamber Choir. Accompanied by Manchester Camerata, this promises to be a concert to remember for many years to come.
