Haydn with Jean-Efflam Bavouzet at Wigmore Hall

Sat 29 May 2027, 7:30pm,
Wigmore Hall, London

We’re presenting a rare opportunity to explore the breadth of classical music’s greatest and most loved innovator, Haydn, performed by the multi-award-winning pianist and one of the most engaging live performers of his generation, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet. This concert is recommended by Classic FM.

Our musical journey with Jean-Efflam began with Haydn. After his very first concert with us, performing Haydn’s F major Piano Concerto, he recalled it as “music love at first sight”: “I remember as if it was yesterday, after 30 seconds, when Gábor and I started talking: the air was in such vibration, and we were both so excited about the music and exchanging ideas.” — Jean-Efflam Bavouzet

Those performances led to our acclaimed recordings of Haydn’s piano concertos, and the musical partnership that followed became the foundation for our ambitious Mozart: Made in Manchester series, in which we recorded the complete Mozart piano concertos together. It all started with Haydn, making this concert feel like a wonderful full-circle moment. You can also hear our Haydn recordings together on Spotify below.

Jean-Efflam’s humour, breathtaking talent and infectious musical personality make him the perfect guide to the wit, invention and brilliance that run through Haydn’s music.

Join us for an intimate evening celebrating one of classical music’s greatest innovators, brought to life by our exceptional players at Wigmore Hall, London.
