WORLD PREMIERE
A 21st-century reimagining of a classical masterpiece.
Originally composed by the Italian composer, Antonio Vivaldi, The Four Seasons is a well-known piece of classical music characterising the mood of all four meteorological seasons of the year. Four Seasons of the Caribbean is a direct response to this, blending the sounds and feelings of the Caribbean population in Britain.
Composers Philip Herbert, Cassie Kinoshi, Renell Shaw and Ayanna Witter-Johnson were each commissioned to write a ‘season’. The result is a unique blend of sounds, both traditional and modern, featuring a violinist, a steel-pan player, and the outstanding Manchester Camerata.
Join us as we celebrate the legacy of Black British composers and descendants of the Windrush generation.
