Elgar’s Enigma Variations In Colne

Last week the Camerata in the Community team visited four schools in Colne, Lancashire marking the start of this year’s project with Lancashire Music Hub.

The theme of the project this year is Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Each school has picked a variation to take inspiration from, and are now in the process of creating their own Variation based on the same themes Elgar used and extending them to make the pieces personal and relevant to them.

We are also working with Pendle Music Centre’s Samba and Strings groups, who will be playing their own special version of Nimrod.

The schools and music groups will be opening the Pendle Schools Music Festival with their creations alongside a Manchester Camerata string quartet on the 11th June at the Muni Theatre in Colne.

We’ll be back in the schools next week to finish their creations and get concert ready!
