British-Japanese violinist, Coco, started her musical studies at Chetham’s School of Music and later a bachelor and masters at the Royal College of Music, London.
As a passionate collaborative musician, Coco engages in a variety of styles and ensembles ranging from baroque to contemporary and pop music. Coco has worked with orchestras across the UK including the Philharmonia, LPO, CBSO, the Hallé and Britten Sinfonia. In 2023 she joined the Manchester Camerata.
In 2022 Coco was part of a Sonia Friedman production of Dr Semmelweis, written by and starring Mark Rylance, directed by Tom Morris and music by Adrian Sutton with the Salomé Quartet. A part of devising and performing in the play, it first ran at the Bristol Old Vic and at the Harold Pinter Theatre, London west end, in 2023.
Other chamber work has included Her Ensemble, a free-form group seeking to address the gender gap and gender stereotypes in the music industry, 12 Ensemble, the Listening Project and Manchester Collective. Coco is also a member of London 5-piece band, pencil.
