Beethoven, Mozart & Pärt: with Gábor Takács-Nagy at The Monastery

Fri 3 October 2025, 8pm,
The Monastery

To celebrate our week-long Here We Are residency—where we’ve brought music to shopping centres, a skate park, and other unique venues across Greater Manchester—we return home to The Monastery for a special headline concert.

Don’t miss this celebratory evening, performed in the round in one of Manchester’s most iconic and spiritual venues.

Gábor Takács-Nagy, our Music Director and world-renowned conductor, leads this powerhouse programme in the atmospheric Great Nave of The Monastery — bringing the unmistakable energy, character, and musical chemistry that defines every single one of his performances!

The programme features Mozart’s Linz Symphony, famously written in just four days. Full of invention, it starts with a slow introduction (rare for Mozart) and ends with an energetic finale, reflecting the spirit of his Haffner Symphony, which is also featured in the programme—one of Mozart’s most celebrated works.

Beethoven’s powerful Coriolan Overture opens the concert with drama, while Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten contrasts with a meditative and spiritual tribute written for strings and a single tolling bell.
