Rachel Whibley is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, and has worked extensively with many of the UK’s finest orchestras and several international orchestras including Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Bolshoi Ballet.
She spent four happy years in Dublin working with the RTE Symphony and Concert orchestras, and in Belfast with the Ulster Orchestra. She is now a member of Manchester Camerata and Northern Chamber Orchestra, and has a special affinity for the chamber music repertoire both orchestras perform.
Alongside her performing career, Rachel is co-founder and managing director of Carrot Productions, one of the world’s leading performers of film with live orchestra. She creates and produces innovative content, working with exceptional creatives to devise unique shows for children and families.
She fosters collaborations between artists of different mediums to devise new and exciting pieces, resulting in highly acclaimed and popular new works. As such, Rachel and her composer husband, Daniel, have created numerous award-winning shows in partnership with leading British creative companies including Aardman and Penguin, and collaborated with individual artists such as Joanna Lumley and Michael Sheen, to produce and stage The Snowman and the Snowdog, Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Gerry Anderson amongst others.
Rachel is passionate about creating opportunities for the highest quality music to be experienced by people of all ages and from all backgrounds, particularly those new to classical music and those who don’t currently feel able to attend performances due to disability and other barriers.
She has recently become a mentor in order to work towards breaking the glass ceiling in the creative industries and to be an advocate for socioeconomic diversity.
