Nic Hailey CMG is Executive Director of International Alert, an international charity which works with people affected by violent conflict to build sustainable peace in communities around the world.
Prior to this, Nic spent 24 years in the UK Diplomatic Service, most recently as a Director-General at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London and before that as High Commissioner (i.e. UK Ambassador) to Kenya. His previous roles included as the FCO’s Africa Director, as deputy Ambassador to Afghanistan, and at UK embassies in Washington DC, Berlin and Paris.
Nic was educated at a Steiner Waldorf school, Cambridge University and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (Paris). He is British and French, married with two teenage children.
