Mark Alder Bennett

Mark was appointed 2nd Horn of Manchester Camerata in 2018, with whom he has performed all over the world and recorded multiple CDs including the Mozart Piano Concerti with Jean Efflam-Bavouzet.

Mark enjoys a varied playing career, guesting regularly with London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and Royal Scottish National Orchestra with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Harding, Essa-Pekka Salonen, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Bernard Haitink. 

He enjoys playing chamber music in various wind ensembles and brass quintets, making his Wigmore Hall debut in 2024, and performing Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with Finchley Symphony Orchestra in 2023, and playing regularly at St Martin in the Fields with St Martin’s Brass. He is a committed advocate for education outreach, enjoying work with LSO, side by side projects with RNCM students yhrough Manchester Camerata and interactive tours of The Snowman with The Picturehouse Orchestra. He also enjoys playing West End Shows, regularly playing in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Oliver and Cinderella to name a few. 

In 2007 Mark was awarded a Foundation scholarship to the Royal College of Music with Tim Jones. He continued his studies at the RCM with a Masters of Performance degree in which he studied with John Ryan, Tim Jones and Jeff Bryant and was sponsored by the Martin Musical Scholarship fund, the Musicians Benevolent fund and The Countess of Munster Scholarship fund as well as the RCM John Lewis Scholarship.

In his time off Mark enjoys cooking, although he strongly dislikes baking, is a keen runner, and enjoys spending time with his daughter (soon to be daughters) and wife.
