Diane Clark

Co-Principal Double Bass

Diane started playing the bass at 16 because her hands were big enough. She studied at the RCS  with Duncan McTier and Corin Long.

In 1994, Diane joined Scottish Ensemble. She also spent ten years working in London with: The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Covent Garden Orchestra, English National Opera, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Britten Symphonia,CLS, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia, and BBC NOW.  During that time she played on a variety of film, TV and pop recordings with which she’s still involved.

Diane now lives in Derbyshire where she has worked with the BBC Philharmonic the Hallé, Liverpool Phil, NCO, Manchester Collective, Ensemble 360 and Music in the Round.

In 2009 she was appointed Co-Principal Bass with the Manchester Camerata.

In the very little spare time she has she has her musical tastes broadened by her teenage sons.

We believe in the power of music to change lives.
