Ben Hudson

Principal Bassoon

Benjamin Hudson is Principal Bassoon with Manchester Camerata and the Northern Chamber Orchestra, prior to which he was 2nd Bassoon with the Halle Orchestra. He works regularly as a Guest Principal Bassoon with many UK Orchestras, such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

In the field of chamber music, he was a founder member of Ensemble 360, making many recordings and broadcasts, and giving many recitals throughout the UK. He works regularly in Special Educational Needs Schools with Carrot Productions, giving performances and conducting workshops, and also in care homes working with dementia residents through Camerata’s “Music in Mind” project.

Benjamin was the woodwind winner and concerto finalist in the BBC Young Musicians 1996 Competition. Solo recitals include those with the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme and a performance in a BBC Proms Composer Portrait. He currently teaches at Chethams School of Music.
