Ben Pinto

Ben Pinto is a versatile clarinettist based in Manchester, enjoying a wide-ranging musical career. Since 2021, he has frequently performed with Chineke! Orchestra, often as principal clarinet. This has taken him to prestigious stages including the BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, as well as renowned venues across the world.

In addition to his orchestral work, Ben has recorded and performed with major organisations such as Disney, Marvel and DC. His contributions extend to the commercial music scene too, collaborating with artists including Stewart Copeland, Beverley Knight and Little Simz. A self-proclaimed “nerd,” Ben counts his work with Marvel and DC among his career highlights—particularly performing as part of the Infinity Saga tour.

As a chamber musician, Ben has appeared in a variety of settings, from recordings for BBC Radio 3 to performances at Wigmore Hall, the Chichester Festival, and even a tour to India.

Alongside performing, Ben is a dedicated educator and currently teaches at the University of Huddersfield.

What are you most looking forward to on the scheme?

He is also looking forward to performing in The Beautiful Game project at the National Football Museum as part of the 360° Fellowship—a particularly exciting prospect given his passion for football. While he might not be thrilled about having to play Blue Moon or Glory Glory Man United, he’s more than happy to put aside his Liverpool loyalties for the occasion.

What music have you been listening to recently that you’d recommend?

Away from the clarinet, one of Ben’s favourite current listens is the LSO’s recording of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony, which he loves for its balance of delicate moments and the sheer drama of a massive hammer blow. He also enjoys exploring the Peak District and following almost any sport, though football remains closest to his heart.
